Britain, 6 episodes, style. For many, that’s already enough reason to watch, but I need more.
What draws me in is warmth. Black Doves is a thriller packed with humor, but more than that, it’s a Christmas fairy tale. A dark, biting, and at times outright brutal one, but still a fairy tale. It’s an easy watch with perfect pacing and a satisfying aftertaste.
It also set a new bar for me in terms of acting. You see a highly skilled performer playing a role that’s technically simple for them. You see it, but you still completely believe in the character. Honestly, the series could be assigned homework for acting students.
